Mr. Tatar is a graduate of Knox College (1971), the University of Chicago (A.M., 1975) and received his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University of Chicago in 1979.

He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar and is Chairperson qualified in the Cook County Arbitration Program. Mr. Tatar is a Past Chairman of the Greater Oak Brook Chamber of Commerce. He is currently on the Executive Board of Temple Jeremiah.

Mr. Tatar is also the recipient of a Knox College Service Award, recognizing his outstanding volunteer service, and is currently a professor of Business Law in the MBA program at Southern New Hampshire University.
